Srichada Hotel, Khao Lak

During my recent stay in Khao Lak for the November 2015 PADI IDC I stayed at Srichada Hotel, Khao Lak for the first time and I was pleased with it.
The location is excellent, many restaurants and shops are within walking distance and the dive center I work with is next door.
The room was also good, big, clean and everything I need, a fridge, hot water in the shower, a table for my computer with wifi and a nice balcony with a view over the mountains at the back. The rooms in the back are quieter compared to the rooms at the road side.
With 33 rooms they have a choice, with options for air conditioned rooms or fan rooms and breakfast is included.
There's also a parking lot, so very convenient indeed. The beach is about a 10-15 minute walk away and the hotel does not have a pool.

A great option if you book a live aboard trip departing from Khao Lak for a very reasonable price or if you are staying in town and don't need something fancy but convenient for a good price.

Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Spa, Kuk Kak beach

The  Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Spa, Kuk Kak beach was formerly know as 'Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort', but is since 31st October, 2014 part of the Accor hotel chain.
You still receive 5 star service at a secluded beach with plenty of activities on offer, varying from cycling, golf. diving and tennis to name a few.
It's also very children friendly with a kids club and a children's pool.
Out of season the  Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Spa, Kuk Kak beach offers some great deals, in high season the prices for the 258 rooms are still within reason for a 5 star resort.

A quiet getaway with luxury, what else can you ask for!

The Leaf on The Sands Resort, Khao Lak

During my recent visit I finally visited the The Leaf on The Sands Resort, Khao Lak resort, next door of The Sands and run by the same Kathatani group and formerly known as the Andaburi Resort.
The resort is centrally located with plenty of restaurants, dive centers and banks within walking distance and the Khao Lak central area within just one kilometer of walking distance, where even more conveniences can be found, like a couple of supermarkets and the obligatory 7-11, we're in Thailand after all, right!

The hotel rooms, 92 in total, have all you need, basic but convenient with aircon, fridge and bathroom and breakfast is included at a great rate to boost! Two things to keep in mind, the ocean is about 600 meters or a 10 minute walk away and the room has only one power connection, so bring a cable with additional power points.

Not the top end best hotel in town but a very good deal for a nice and calm surrounding, clean and with good management that I can highly recommend.

Good location at reasonable prices.

Centara Seaview Resort, Khao Lak

During November 2013 I had friends stay at this resort in Khao Lak and went to see them on various days. Centara has a good reputation and with it's 197 luxury rooms, including one Royal Executive Pool Villa, seven Royal Pool Villas, two Royal Villas, 27 Deluxe Pool Villas and three disabled rooms, this resort delivers as well.
The rooms are big and nice with all you need and expect in resort in this class and you have immediate beach access on a lovely white sand beach.

Just keep in mind that there's a lot of water around the resort so there might be mosquito's and as in all Centara resors, the wifi doesn't come free and is actually way overpriced.

On the other hand, the recreational sport facilities and children activities are fantastic, with plenty of options and choices. The swimming pool has a slide which the children will enjoy.

The resort is also just a 5 minute walk away from the main road where you can find plenty of different restaurants and shops to your liking.

A good hotel in a nice location with plenty of options to enjoy your holiday.

The Andaburi Resort, Khao Lak

The Andaburi Resort, Khao Lak

The resort is now known, as of 2015 as 'The Leaf on The Sand Resort' by Katathani

This resort is in the middle of Khao Lak, near all places of interest and just an hour way from Phuket International airport. Tourist attractions like James Bond island, Khao Sok national park, the Similan islands and Surin islands are all within easy access.

The hotel boasts 39 Superior rooms, 24 Villas and 5 Deluxe Villas at very reasonable prices. A drawback may be that there's no direct access to the beach, although the beach is not far away, maybe a 10 minute walk.

A nice and relaxed location at good prices, the Andaburi in Khao Lak may be your choice.

Ocean Breeze Resort, Khao Lak

Ocean Breeze Resort, Khao Lak

This resort is straight on the beach in Khao Lak and during my recent, December PADI IDC which I conducted in Khao Lak, I had the opportunity to visit this lovely resort.

The resort has recently been renovated and it makes it even more enjoyable to sit at the secluded and pristine beach in front of the hotel, looking at a sunset!

The resort is family friendly and has a good restaurant on the premises but nearby plenty of other options can be found.

31 wonderfully designed private bungalows and 14 superior rooms are available. The resort embraced a beautiful contemporary Thai style, featuring both finest cultural and natural elements of Thai design, making your stay very comfy and memorable.

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, Khuk Kak Beach

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, Khuk Kak Beach

This Marriott resort has a dream location, along the white, almost untouched beaches of Khao Lak. The resort offers all the 5 star amenities one can and should expect for very reasonable prices. Special offers are on a regular base available.

The nearby Similan Islands undoubtedly provide the best dive sites in Thailand, while the three national parks (Khao Lak Lam Ru, Khao Sok, Sri Phang Nga) are perfect for treks-on foot and on elephants, rafting and canoeing. The nearby Takuapa Old Town has several Sino-Portuguese designed buildings. The resort also organizes games, and non-motorized sports such as kayaking are on offer. Additionally there are mountain bikes available to explore the nearby villages.

The resort is slightly away from all activities, a good 10km, transportation may come in handy.

Free high-speed Internet access, business center, early check-in/ late check out lounge, kids club and last but not least; the longest swimming pool in southeast Asia.

Luxury at a 5 star level for affordable rates, enjoy as long as it lasts before Khao Lak will be discovered by 'the masses' and special offers will be no longer available.

Kao Lak Youth Club, Kao Lak

Kao Lak Youth Club, Kao Lak

During a Similan Islands dive trip in January 2009, I stayed one night in this Youth Club in Kao Lak.
The name is rather misleading though, it's a hotel with a couple of stand alone bungalows build on a hill and isn't anywhere what you would expect from a youth club.

The rooms are all wood and simple but nice, if you're near reception you also get Wifi in the room. The rooms also come with air conditioning, TV and fridge, pretty much what you would expect in your average hotel room and not in a youth club.

They're located very centrally inside Kao Lak, not on the beach if that's what you're looking for and they're very reasonably priced.

A good choice for me when I was passing through, convenient and price conscious.
